About us

The nonprofit organization Relevant was set up on December 15, 2006. The main goal was to create a place where interpersonal relationships based on Christian principles could be formed. Currently, we support children and youth who are leaving Slovakia’s orphanage and foster care systems and who are ineligible for institutional care, with effort to contribute to the positive development of all children and youth. We lead these youth leaving the orphanage and foster care systems towards having a positive relationship with society, we provide a safe living environment, and we create preventative activities.

We are trying to create opportunities for free time activities for all children and youth in under developed parts of our region. Our passion is to help isolated people, people in crises or in need, and to offer them material, spiritual, and mental support. Our aim is to change the life quality of all children and youth in our area and their families, assist their development, and enhance their reintegration and/or inclusion into society. We also organize activities that are focused on training and education for people who volunteer and work with these groups. We help informal groups that have a similar focus as we do. We want to contribute to the healthy development of society.

We organize our activities with the help of more than 40 volunteers. They are involved in 3 main projects, and help us to prepare and realize these activities:

  • Youth work in the Lutheran church in Prešov
  • Youth work with High School students in Prešov
  • Youth work with marginalized youth - (children and youth from foster homes, orphans and   Roma youth)

In individual teams we organize:

  • Club meetings – 3 times per week

  • Educational weekend trainings for volunteers

  • Summer camps and English conversation camps

  • „Half way house“ – this registered shelter is used to integrate fosterlings into society

  • Sport activities
